>> Applications are invited for a PhD student position within the Doctoral School “Translational Molecular and Cellular Bioscience“ of the Medical University of Graz (MUG). The PhD student will participate in the research project “Predictive and prognostic value of GIRK in breast cancer“ financed by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF; KLI182) and will investigate expression patterns of G-Protein activated, inwardly rectifying Kalium Channels (GIRKs) in breast tumour samples. KLI182 is a joint effort of MUGs Oncology Division and the Institutes of Pathology and Biophysics.
Applicants should hold a MD degree or Master degree in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry or a related discipline. A good background in Immunohistochemistry and/or Bioinformatics will be convenient. The successful candidate will perform Immunohistochemistry on tumour samples, diagnose them under the supervision of an experienced pathologist, perform Western blot analyses and create a patient based database in order to correlate pathological diagnosis and immunohistochemistry with course of disease. Dedication to experimental work as well as familiarisation with basic bioinformatics procedures are both required.
For this FWF-position we offer a brutto-salary of € 1,933.30 for a 30 hour week.
