INVENTIONS - PATENTS - LICENSES

In the field of technology transfer we aim at optimizing the potential of patents and licenses at the Medical University of Graz. If possible, inventions made within the framework of research projects will be patented and so made accessible to the economy. Especially the researchers at the Medical University of Graz benefit from this service because a good deal of the proceeds from license agreements made by the university, flows back into research. This new service was made possible by the Universities Act 2002, according to which inventions in the meaning of section 7(3) Patents Acts, BGBl. No. 259/1970, made at a university in the course of federal employment or training or employment or training by such university, shall be promptly reported to the rectorate. The rectorate shall inform the inventor within three months if it intends to claim title to the invention in its entirety or rights of the use thereof. For the notification of an invention, please use the "notification form". If you have further questions you can contact us by phone at +43-316-385-72017 or by email: .

Please note: only new inventions are patentable! Therefore it is absolutely necessary that you take out a patent for your invention before you publish it.

As soon as you have taken out a patent you are free to publish. We have sample documents of Confidentiality Agreements (CDA) and Material Transfer Agreements (MTA) available so you can exchange information and material with potential partners. By using these documents you avert loss of the right to your invention and will not waste any time for publication. On the contrary! Assuring the rights to your invention allows for new fields of cooperation, especially with the industry. You go for it and we support you.
