Methodic Seminar for Biostatistics
Also during the summer term 2012 we offer - as an optional seminar - a methodic seminar for biostatistics. This seminar is scheduled for students who need assistance concerning statistical aspects of their diploma thesis. Within the seminar the students have to present their projects. A registration, including the usual personal data, is necessary.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andreas Holzinger visited the eHealth-group at HumTec. HumTec is an interdisciplinary project house at RWTH Aachen University.
Best Paper Award at the IEEE ICE-B 2010 Conference
At the IEEE ICE-B 2010 Conference, which took place at the University of Piraeus, Athens (410 contributions, 11 % acceptance rate), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andreas Holzinger, Head of the Research Unit HCI4MED of the Institute for Medical Informatics, Statistics and Documentation of the Medical University of Graz, won the Best Paper Award with the paper "Preferences of Handwriting Recognition on Mobile Information Systems in Medicine - Improving Handwriting Algorithm on the Basis of Real-life Usability Research" (by Andreas Holzinger, Martin Schlögl, Bernhard Peischl and Matjaz Debevc).

At the conference of the GMA (Association for Medical Education), which took place in Freiburg from October 8th until October 10th, 2009, one of the three Poster Awards for exceptional research activities was awarded to Johannes Bernhardt. He presented his Poster entitled "Simulation of a mycological KOH-preparation - two e-learning studies and their results".

At the 26th ROeS-Seminar (Austrian-Swiss Region of the International Biometric Society), which took place at the Johannes-Kepler-University in Linz from September 14th to September 17th, 2009, Thomas Mendlik presented the Poster entitled "Different Computational Methods for the Analysis of Generalized Linear Models for Binary Longitudinal Data". This excellent contribution was rewarded with a Poster-Award!
